Sustainable viticulture, ecosystem protection.

Sustainable viticulture, which encourages reasoned agricultural practices, aims to ensure the protection of the ecosystem of the vineyard through regular and quality production, while preserving the environment.

The implementation of reasoned practices implies a change of mentality and working methods, rather than a technical revolution. Above all, sustainable viticulture can be a means of perpetuating wine-growing territories in a context of increased economic competition.

In our estates, the hand of man supports the work of Nature without replacing it. We work with meticulousness and attention, respecting the type of soil, the species of vines and evaluating their adaptation and their balance during the development phases. Our green friendly approach and respect for traditional know-how are our priority. Being in harmony with our wine-growing contexts is our main goal.

We took the time to study the state of our soil using both insects and bioindicator plants and we observed their deficiencies to balance them by importing plants with detoxifying properties when necessary.

Maintaining a healthy soil means ensuring that the vine is vigorous and that it produces quality grapes as well as limiting human intervention to the size of the vine. The nourishment of the microclimate of plants is fundamental and we do it in a natural way using practices such as green manure or using our precious earthworms, they provide the carbon necessary for the natural fertilization of humus. We favor grassing among the vines, therefore we act on the temperature of the soil, we maintain its natural humidity and promote biodiversity.

Our vineyards are inhabited.

We practice sustainable viticulture to maintain microbial life and preserve our ecosystems.

The use of herbicide is excluded throughout the vineyard. We only treat the vines preventively when the disease occurs in the region. We prefer gentle or late pruning to allow the plants to retain all its vitality. Soft pruning in this sense is high pruning designed to respect the path of the sap and minimize damage to the plant. Thus, the vine retains its phenols and, with less effort to heal its wounds, it can pour all its vigor into the grapes. The vineyards of our Gelso Grande estate are designed to optimize the freshness of the grapes and preserve their organoleptic qualities that will become the protagonists of our wines in purity.
